Who this task will support
The Migrant English Project Community Garden
The MEP Community Garden is a well-established community project that has been supporting asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants living in Sussex since 2003. It hosts group-based activities and teach gardening skills while providing a space where students can learn about growing and cooking healthy food and produces organic vegetables โ€“ either to eat collectively at MEP or for students to take home. The project helps people learn new vocabulary and builds confidence in new skills, and the space provides a critical site of mental wellbeing through fresh air, exercise and socialising.

The MEP Multiculture English Project Garden Project has been teaching gardening, horticultural and English language skills to asylum seekers since 2010, by providing a space to put this knowledge into action.
