35 amazing people did gardening for St Mary's and Antrim Allotment

In the news this week:

  1. Well done to those that did London 10,000 and Jacob that did an Ironman last weekend.
  2. Tara from GG Brighton came along to join us. Let your friends know about it, starting soon!

Welcome along to Sarah and Alice whose first time it was at GoodGym - lovely to have you along :)

Antrim Report by PB:

29 of us headed to Antrim Allotments in two groups, splitting between into two groups, one with Primrose Hill in the mix and the other battling traffic lights. Once we arrived Michael and the committee explained what needed to be done. Tasks included:

  1. Digging, filling a hole and widening the path
  2. Steve lifted compost sacks
  3. Ripped away weeds and dug up tree roots
  4. Trimmed ivy on a soon to be replaced fence
  5. Emptied an old compost container
  6. Separated a HUGE pile into two smaller piles of wood and compost. This will now be the new compost site!

Everyone worked wonderfully fast and had a grand time helping their local community. Well done everyone!

St Mary's House Report by Frances:

Seven of us headed to St Mary's to help resident Brenda with the front garden. Out main task was to clear out a large planter and get it ready for some lovely new plants. We got the weeds and dead plants cleared quickly but ran into a few problems trying to clear out the old soil, which was packed together and very hard. A return trip with some sharper tools might be needed!

In need of a pick ax!

We also re-potted a large plant and did some sweeping and watering and general tidying up. Although it wasn't quite mission accomplished, the place looked a lot better, and we headed off for a run home via the the canal.

Few things to remember:

  1. Tell your friends about GG Brighton opening!
  2. If you are doing the GG Olympics please pay the fee (sent in the email)
  3. Run happy

Sign up for next week here, we need at least 30 people as we need to spread the word about Camden in Bloom to 39 community centres in our borough! Boom!

PB out.
