Tonights task WAS to remove graffiti and pick litter on the Grand Union Canal, however the "graf off" stuff didnt get delivered so it was just litter picking.

14 intrepid Goodgymmers armed with brand new litter pickers, courtesy of the canal & rivers trust set off in search of a juicy morsel of rubbish. Quite surprisingly on this occasion, said morsels were somewhat hard to find and as the light faded it became even more of a challenge.

That said, Ben managed to find an almost intact, pub umbrella/sunshade type thing. By the end of our half hour search, and almost a mile of walking, we had managed to find enough to fill several black bags so we can rest assured that the mile straight on the Leicester canal will definitely be a tidier place in the morning.

We welcomed Hannah May to her first group run and she slotted in like a regular. Lovely to have you with us Hannah hope you enjoyed it. I was intrigued by the keen questioning about our tasks, do you have something in mind me wonders???

Despite the gloom Mel managed to take over 40 photos. At the time of writing I have not reviewed them yet but I expect the usual standard and look forward to seeing the litter picker guard of honour.

With the task done, it was off down to the King Power stadium for a spot of turnstile fartlek. Its one I nicked from Joel in Islington, but I thought, if its good enough for Arsenal, why not Leicester City..

We have some impressive sprinters in our midst... Sam, Steve, Kerry, you know who you are! but to be frank there was no one out there giving less than 100%... well done to you all.

A word of thanks must also go to Mel and Shobha for being our tool carriers tonight, they did try to drive round to the KP to take some more photos but apparently we were just too quick.

During the stretch I started to share some of the good news from my review session today but I will save the details on that for the weekly fitness email.

See you next week.. a longer one, dont forget your hi viz and headtorches.
