Community mission

GoodGym Swindon Virtual parkrun Takeover - From 6pm on Friday 29th May until 6pm on Sunday 31st May

To support the parkrun community during the Covid-19 crisis

Description

This is a community mission, a community led session where you will meet other GoodGym members at the task. Please make yourself known to anyone in a GoodGym top when you arrive. As with all GoodGym sessions we encourage you to use the power of your legs to get there, i.e. run or walk if you can.

It's back! The GoodGym Swindon Takeover at the awesome Swindon Virtual parkrun. Thanks to our wonderful parkrun community here in Swindon, a FREE weekly virtual 5K parkrun is available to everyone and anyone. Check out the Swindon Community Running Facebook page for more information:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/118524164846538/

Here is what happened last time; check out the Run Report HERE!

We have been asked to provide volunteers at the 11th virtual parkrun commencing Friday 29th May at 6pm. We are recruiting for the following positions:

  • Pacers - 20, 22, 25, 27, 30, 32, 35, 40 and 45 minutes

  • Tail Walkers

  • Run Report Writer

If you would like to do one of the roles above, please write a comment below which one. It would be great if we could try and fill all of these volunteer roles. Doubling up on pacing positions is fine!

We would also love for you to NAME YOUR VIRTUAL PARKRUN and post it on the GoodGym Swindon WhatsApp Group and the Swindon Community Running Facebook Page. Did you know that you can buy an apricot parkrun top with your chosen name on? Check it out HERE!

And here are the rules:

1) Run solo

2) Run from home

3) Adhere to social distancing guidelines; stay at least 2 metres away from anyone else during your run

2) Do not run at an official parkrun location at 9am on a Saturday; doing so will lead to instant disqualification

3) If you do not feel well, do NOT run.

4) Tourists are welcome!

5) The run can be at any time from 6pm on Friday 29th May until 6pm on Sunday 31st May.

6) Upload your run to Strava and submit your result here!

8) Take a photo where possible and post on the GoodGym Swindon WhatsApp Group and the Swindon Community Running Facebook Page.

Looking forward to volunteering with you again. Stay safe and stay connected with GoodGym Swindon!

Happy to do my normal roles of Setting up, might not want to do course checking as I'd have to run around most of Swindon!!! Also happy to pace at 25 or 27 but i expect others might have that covered. Also happy to clear up at the end!!!

New to GoodGym?

This is a GoodGym group run, where we run to help a local community organisation and then run back.

New runners are welcome to GoodGym group runs - no one gets left behind. You're unlikely to be alone, hundreds of new people sign up every week.

There's a place to leave bags and a toilet at the start point, all you need to do is bring your trainers. It's free to try - get involved!
