This evening we ran around 6km to clean up Heavers Meadow in Selhurst

It was back to Heavers Meadow 6 months after our first visit and we really enjoyed seeing it in the daylight. When we first visited it we had to stick to the main footpath and couldn’t really see much at all. Tonight we had the chance to explore both sides of the stream, peek over at the beautifully kept allotments and even do some brambling! A really beautiful place to visit.

We had a lovely (aren’t they always) group of runners - some looking to go a bit faster and further tonight and others happy to have a more conversational and relaxed run. So we split into two groups with Dom leading the first group off after we’d finished our warm-up and I lead the other group and had the chance to catch-up on what they’d all been up to during the week. We had 2 fitness sessions – the first involved the whole group and we practiced agility and strength by hop, hop-scotching and side stepping over our litter-picks and doing squats, balances and star jumps too. On the return run Dom’s group took a longer route and played a game of chase – back runner runs to the front of the group, then the next back runner heads to the front etc etc. There is a name for this drill but Dom and I can’t remember it! My group had a giggle with some Fartlek fun on the way back. We all met up again near the station where we stretched and chatted about Missions and Coach runs.

I forgot to mention the 5 Starter sessions coming up soon in September but did remember to mention our next social at Boxpark in 2 weeks time – it’s all about priorities!

Next Tuesday’s run will be heading to Addiscombe Railway Park to help Lauren and her friends.
