As the mizzle hung around us, six super runners covered 3km and made the kitchen sparkle at Melvin Hall.

Yes, Ian came up with a cracking pun for our title this week, so I was able to put my feet up!

Lots to mention this week!

  • Well done to our top quiz team last week, 5th out of 12! It was such good fun, I'm sure we'll do it again.

  • It's the Big (and Little) Half on Sunday! Whaaaatt?! Hopefully you are all enjoying taper week and fuelling up good and proper...Good luck to all of our runners and volunteers, enjoy the day, soak up the atmosphere and don't forget to bring your medals next week!

  • We have a community mission this Saturday, collecting donations for the Rainbow Trust at Sainsbury's from 1.30pm. All details here.

  • The following week we are going to contribute to the volunteer team at Crystal Palace junior parkrun. Make sure you are registered with parkrun, so you can get your volunteer credit and sign up here for your good deed :)

The biggest news this week was that Tim has passed his 100th good deed milestone! He did this last week at GoodGym Oxford but, in true Tim style, didn't think to mention it! He started running initially with GoodGym Lewisham (this was before GG Bromley started) back in January 2017. He quickly got himself paired and was coach running for quite some time. These days he's a regular on the missions circuit, regularly visiting an older person to help out with something in their home. Tim is a committed runner and can often be seen darting around parkrun, bagging himself a particularly impressive age grading. Well done Tim, it's been a pleasure getting to know you and hearing all your stories on the run!

Tonight we were off to Melvin Hall. We have been here lots of times now, painting, cleaning windows and so on, but this time we were giving the kitchen a good scrub. The building is used by lots of different groups, but it's hard for volunteers to take time to do a job like this. We grabbed some spray and a scourer, found a spot and got scrubbing. Tim celebrated his 102nd good deed by cleaning a toaster, Darryl turned out to be pretty good at shining up the tiles, Nicole seemed to have a knack at finding nooks and crannies that had gathered dust, Clare was doing us proud with her oven scouring skills and Ian and I got busy with all those random bits that go on top of the hob. Phew!

Once everything was back in place, we were ready to run over to the park for our Pancake Day themed fitness session. Hoorah! The concentration on everyone's faces in the 'Pancake Race', the determination during 'Musical Pancakes' and the speed with which our runners took on the final hill back up to our start point! What better way to round off the evening than with some milestone cake? :)

See you next week, when we will be running over to Sydenham Community Library for more of the good stuff.
