Run, eclipse, trim, ice cream, pint, home

Wednesday 12th August

Written by Lindy Macfarlane

Jam packed evening for goodgym Southwark - a sweaty 3km run from Old Spike to Old Alleynian in time to catch the solar eclipse.

Some novel methods to watch it were attempted including a holy hat and a pasta spoon.. Thank you to David for packing spare glasses so everyone could get a glimpse!

After the EXCITEMENT of the eclipse we helped Ian with trimming the pavement side hedge.

Then onwards for some well deserved ice creams at Oddono's and crispy cold pints at the Actress.

Making a trash decision

Wednesday 5th August

Written by Southwark runner

Last night, 8 Goodgymmers went out in Peckham to do some litter picking. We met as usual at Old Spike, but this time we welcomed Julien who had already done his first good deed that day - give him a cheer! 🙌

We started by litter picking the patch of grass where we usually warm up. It would have been easy to spend the whole session there but after tackling the big bits, we went ahead with our warm-up, and carried on to the canal path.

Once we reached the canal path, we did a quick ice breaker question - "what do you keep that others might consider trash?". Turns out we are sentimental or crafty, with answers including old trainers, ticket stubs and wine bottles. We split into small groups and spread out along the path. The path was very busy, with many cyclist shouting "thank you" at us! After many full black bags (I had to pop to the shop to get more!) we ran back to where we started for a quick stretch, and then on to the pub.

Anna found us at the pub! and took a photo of us since I'd forgotten to take any during the task, thanks Anna!
