GoodGym x Earth Hour - Sacks of fun

Solihull Report written by Rob

Well done everyone that ran tonight, we all got fitter picking up litter!

Tonight we ran to Tudor Grange Park to do a little pick for the Great British Spring Clean, whilst incorporating environmental campaign “Earth Hour”.

Once we had successfully filled our sacks with rubbish, we tried out our one mile time trial route for future runs! We then split into two teams and raced against each other for a quick-fire sprint from one lamp post to another.

Earth Hour is a global campaign overseen by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to raise awareness of environmental issues. It takes place this Saturday 30th March at 8:30pm-9:30pm (local time), join millions around the world to turn off the lights and speak up about why nature matters: https://www.earthhour.org/

Once we had recovered from our time trial route and quick fire sprints we ran back to base for a well deserved rest.

Next week we will be running to AGE UK to do some painting putting the SPRING back into the shop sign up here.

Hope you all have a good week!

GoodGym goes golden

Solihull Report written by Rob

We did it - Goodgym’s 50th group is officially launched!

31 runners ran 5km to Newlands Bishop Farm as part of the GoodGym Solihull launch. At the farm we met Dan, who showed us around and gave us an insight into the work they do, providing jobs for adults with learning difficulties and enabling them to gain new skills. We’ll be back in the summer months to help them out with digging, painting, gardening and much more!

Runners also took part in two mini fitness sessions, with high intensity training, reps and group activities. Everyone gave it their all and completed the session still smiling.

We then ran back to our start location, the Royal British Legion Club, where we cooled down with some stretches.

Thank you so much for attending and giving it your all, with the run, the fitness sessions and meeting new people. It was great to chat to lots of you and get the GoodGym ball rolling in Solihull!

It would be great to see you next week in Tudor Grange Park for our litter pick as part of the Great British Spring Clean.
