Running up that hill

Solihull Report written by Rob

Last night Liam, Michael and Rob met up for a group run and a littler pick in our adopted parks!

We set off with a spring in our step, on a slightly longer route to get to the parks ready to do some picking of all the rubbish we could find on the way up to tonight's fitness session, which was Hills!

This involved 2 set of 4 four minute hill work, pushing as hard as you can up the hill and then a small recovery run back down to catch your breath, only to go again at the bottom.

This was Michael's first time doing hill sprints, he did an excellent job chasing Liam down, who is currently in training for his half-marathon, in a couple of months.

Once we had all caught our breaths back, it was time to run back to base for a quick stretch of the muscles and a well-earned drink.

We will be back next week, ready to do some more, hope to see you there!

We cleaned and saw pyramids!

Solihull Report written by Rob

Last night we were back out hitting the street of Solihull.

This time doing a litter pick around our adopted parks, keeping them as tidy as possible for all the park goers. Once we had collected all the rubbish we could find, it was time to do a fitness session, this week it was a pyramid session.

This involves 30 seconds of hard running, 45 seconds of slightly easier run, 1 minute of race pace, back to 45 seconds slightly harder, and finishing off with a final 30 second hard sprinting. Each interval has a 45 second rest in between. This session is excellent to help build up your stamina and the amount of oxygen in your blood. A massive well done to everyone.

We will be back next week for more good deeds and another fitness session.

Michael completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Michael was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Curious? Michael has just run their first session in another area. For that explorative spirit Michael is awarded the scout badge. A Scout is trustworthy

Goodgym goes off the rails

Solihull Report written by Rob

Saturday morning saw Chris and Rob meet up for a run around one of our adopted parks in Solihull, Breuton for a quick 5k.

Afterward we went onto Trinity close for the first time this year where we welcomed Michael to the group for the first time.

John set us to work pretty quickly send Chris off to dig up a flower bed that had been left to do it own thing during winter, so it was full of weeds, which left Rob and Michael to start sanding down a handrail ready to be painted.

Once we had completed the task it was time to head on our way to enjoy the rest of the days sun.

See you all again soon.
