Extremes and Jeans

Stockport Report written by Lisa Hamilton

16 awesome runners joined tonight to run a collective 6km. Starting from the usual point of Lifeleisure Grandcentral, we set off our run at 6.30pm.

After a catch up and warm up we set to running to the location, there was a slight change of plan, instead of being given food bank bins I was given promotional leaflets about a event that chelwood foodbank are holding on thursday 24th January, 7-9pm at chelwood baptist church, cheadle Hulme sk8 5qa. For more information about chelwood woodbank plus visit the facebook page at www.chelwoodfoodbankplus.org

For our back up plan we ran to a local high school, Stockport Academy and Lifeleisure Avondale for a quick plog and spritz up in the snow. As a extra treat I added a little yoga session, to warm up the lovely people and give some stretch skills to take home.

It was great to see a some newbies this week, well done, you worked super hard! It was also fab to have some of the Sheffield Goodgym crew over, showing us how to leg pop like a pro and run in jeans!

Twigtastic Fantastic

Stockport Report written by Lisa Hamilton

YAY TO A SATURDAY!!!

Thank you to all the Goodgym people that came out on a Saturday for a extra session this week.

We set off at 11.30am, we had our usual little warm up and catch up before setting over to St Matthews, this time we decided to go underground and so ran through the train station to get to our location (catchy hey!!)

We carried on running a short distance before arriving to be greeted by the wonderful Pam Robinson, who is now a Goodgym stockport star! With the reputation of best brew and biscuit provider……Thank you Pam, and for your wonderful support.

When Stockport Goodgym first started back in September St Matthews was our 2nd task, and the task was to move the mammoth amount of twigs!!! We didnt get to move them all because the pile was like a mountain.

So yesterday felt like we moved Everest, and it felt GOOOOOOOOD, so so good, that good that I made everyone dance on the space.

We worked super hard with grit and determination, no time barrier, just focusing on getting the pile of twigs gone, and we did it!!

So thank you guys, to the new people that joined us, to the people visiting, to the loyal regulars, thank you thank you thank you, your my hero’s!

Happy running xxxxx

Run run run, third time perfectly done

Stockport Report written by Lisa Hamilton

Third time lucky! This was our 3rd time over in stockport to deliver leaflets, this time we were working with socially yours again to promote the friendship groups to help with isolation and help make friendships in the community.

As ever we started off at Lifeleisure Grandcentral, meeting at the usual 6.30pm. We had a fabulous 12 runners join in, we started with a warm up and light jog before setting off back to Cheadle. On this visit we met Natalie from socially your at a closer start location, so the run was slightly shorter which gave us longer to post and promote, and that we did.

But as we waited for Natalie it gave a perfect 5 minute slot to get some intervals in, and wow the speed of the goodgymers was faaaaaassssst, well done!

This was definitely 3rd time lucky with the leaflets, as there was no rain to soggy the leaflets, and we got our routine down to perfection, which meant we delivered every single leaflet, which means we are adding a bigger impact, so fingers crossed we get lots of people to join socially yours! Ill keep you posted……….get it!? (made me laugh anyway)

After posting ALL the leaflets, we ran back at a lovely pace, with a little speed as we had our second social. We were celebrating our 10th week of Goodgym in Stockport and all the amazing tasks we have achieved as a team so far. We also had a cheers to the awesome David for completing 52 good deeds, how amazing, I gave him a little gift to celebrate, and we all wait in anticipation for photographs…….

Id also like to say a massive well done to Anne Goldsbrough for completing 10 group runs, you can now become a part of the task force! And thanks for always being a positive part of the team and being my technical adviser…..

Welcome to Amy and Lorna for joining us! And I still cant believe it was your 1st ever outdoor run, what a epic achievement.

Last thing to mention, at our social we discussed the next social, our, dare I mention the word CHRISTMAS??? So keep your eyes peeled for date and location.

Until next week crew, happy running!
