Can it really be a year since the Blues and Rock Garden last burst into life? It certainly can. This year Malawi has really suffered with disastrous climate related extreme weather, so charities like Building Malawi and others with local links such as Love, Support, Unite are vital.
Goodgym supported in the bar whilst Emily starred on stage with Band of Fools as well as leading the dancing. Hopefully it will be a super successful fundraiser with not too many hangovers!

Emily White done a 6 month mission streak.
Emily just completed a six month streak of doing missions. That’s so many bags of garden rubbish cleared and jobs done to help someone out and put a smile on their face. Give Emily a cheer to encourage them to keep up the good work.

It definitely wasn't a Silent Night yesterday evening at Walnut Tree House. The evening was jingling with the sound of six GoodGymers, residents of Walnut Tree and accompanying piano and percussion. We Rocked around the Christmas tree, Walked in a Winter Wonderland and Dreamed of a White Christmas. One lucky resident even had her own personal performance as we sang an a cappella Away in a Manger on her balcony. Of course we had to provide a rendition of the special 12 Days of GoodGym Christmas (written by Ella - see pic). Thanks to Louise for inspiring the dancing and wearing the best Christmas jumper! We all had smiles on our faces as We Wished a Merry Christmas and a Feliz Navidad for all the Spanish speakers. Phil had a nice chat with the residents and apologised for the lack of Bing Crosby...!
Always a lovely event to bring some Christmas cheer. Thanks to Susan for arranging and for the lovely hot chocolate!
A special shout out and thanks to our brilliant musical Emily for her piano playing, music bringing and for keeping us all in tune!
We have had a great year at Colchester Goodgym. 362 good deeds (I think now 363 as of last night!), 4,295 km run, 4 GoodGymers reaching 50 good deeds and 2 reaching 100. A special well done to our top good deeders Tav and Frazer!! Great GoodGyming.
Merry Christmas everyone and see you all in the New Year!

The persistent rain had thankfully subsided by 11am and the sun was just beginning to peek through the clouds.
While we knew to expect some hills, it turned out that three of the five miles took on fairly steep inclines!
Thankfully the last kilometer was all downhill so our legs and our lungs breathed a sigh of relief as we sprinted across the finish line.
I was surprised and very pleased to come in as second lady but the trophy is for us all!
Well done Emily and Tav. It was worth it for the lovely wooden medal.

A beautiful but scorchio morning for a technical, multi-terrain 10.5km race. Great to see Bryanne, Hannah and Emily enjoying the Suffolk countryside and Damo taking another step towards the London Marathon for St Helena - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/damien-saiz3
Just a thought but wouldn't it be great to see wheelchair events and discounts for Foodbank users (as a minimum) at running events?
Can't help but think of the people who are not at events like this, Goodgym want to include everyone but have not achieved this yet either...
The actual event is supporting https://www.sesaw.co.uk/ another great cause.
Enjoy Sunday and HYDRATE! Especially if you cycled to and from the race!8

A buzzing bar session and (as expected) a great load of foolish entertainment! Emily and her Band of Fools made the rock and blues garden an even happier place! The drinks sold out and the tipsy punters gave generously!!
I had a nice chat about the latest building project just outside Lilongwe - a new school for a community and education to enrich lives.

That 12 days of (GG) Christmas was incredible...your talent is endless!
Looks like we might have managed this socially distanced and outdoor Christmas Carol task in the nick of time. Residents at Worsnop House and John Lampon Court watched, sang and clapped along from the comfort of their living rooms and balconies as the super talented Emily provided the music and Ella rekindled her GG version of The 12 Days of Christmas! For some of the GG Colchester squad it was the first taste of our Christmas carols and I am sure it will not be the last.
In my day job, at home and at Goodgym there has been a lot of time to share and appreciate each others unique Christmas traditions. This weird couple of years has given us all time to reflect and by gosh it is amazing how adaptable everyone is. The patience people show, the caring and the understanding and I hope that is the most contagious thing to come from COVID - with Goodgym leading by example.
In this reflective, festive time of year it is so important to celebrate difference and culture. Would you like to write a run report...make it into a reflective space to share some wisdom and what Goodgym means to you? Tell us about you memorable Christmas times or what you celebrate in your family?
Oh yeh, and welcome to Lottie for a chilly sing song.
