On the second Monday of the month, we head to our riverside plot that we look after for Richmond Council. If you do one task a month, make it this one because we pack it ALL in!
Meet at Tap Tavern in Richmond town centre for a welcome and warm-up. There are often groups that head off from this to walk the direct route to the task or cycle there so you don't have to be a runner to join in!
Those of us who are running head down to the riverside to run to the plot - it's under a mile and we run at a chatty pace.
At the plot we have a lock-up where bikes can be stored and bags can be left in all weathers. For those who want to join in, there will be a fitness session either on the grass out front or in the lock-up, weather-depending. For those who don't want to join in, you can get straight on with the task. All fitness levels are welcome and there will be options for all.
We will work together for about 45mins to look after the plot - tasks may include weeding, compost-turning, leaf collecting, bulb planting, watering etc, depending on the season. Please bring gardening gloves if you have them, all other tools are provided and you don't need any experience.
We finish the task by clearing up then those who are running head back to the Tap where those who are walking can catch up.
Join us for a drink and post-run chat at Tap Tavern before heading off!
Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.
This is a GoodGym group run, with the option of walking too. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run or walk to the task together. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Liz (She/her) by email at lizjones@goodgym.org.
Options are available to run between 0km and 3km in total.
Remember that we will be running or walking to and from the task, so you'll only be running or walking for half this distance in one go.
Movement, giving back, socialising, organising and spreading positivity. These things make me feel good and GoodGym has them all!
Comments are a good place to ask any questions you may have about the session.
