We are working with Sport England to ‘help the active stay active when life changes’. Research shows that there is a reduction in physical activity after university and the reduction is more significant for women. We want to support active students to remain active after they graduate from university. We know that this life change can be challenging for many, as routines change, people move and priorities shift. One student from the London School of Economics explained "I don't think I will carry on [with netball after University], I'll do other fitness, but a lot of clubs are related to school or uni".

Before we come up with new ideas and ways to support women to continue exercising after university we want to understand more about what women are experiencing during this time.

We want to explore:

  • Attitudes to fitness
  • Concerns and worries
  • What changes impact fitness
  • How people find out about new things to do

We’ll be using a mixture of surveys, informal chats and design workshops over the coming months to understand and co-design a GoodGym experience for young female graduates.
