What a wonderful night, it was our quietest run for a while, the weather hasn't been kind and lots of people were busy, but 4 little Goodgymers still made a big impact tonight.
Its been a while since we visited St Lesmo, a residential home in Edgeley, in the past we have cleared leaves, painted rails and washed windows, tonight we were on more a fun mission! we arranged a games night, and what a night!
It was a great turn out, lots of residents waiting for us, we set up tables and on each table we had a different game set up, we played Pick up sticks, Snap, Jenga, Dominoes, Snakes and Ladders, Tiddlywinks and did i mention SNAP? (my favourite card game ever, I thought I was the master, turns out Anders is.....)
It really was a wonderful night, the atmosphere was wonderful, everyone enjoyed themselves, some of us, as in me, were sore losers! BUT we will 100% be back to play more games.
Thank you guys for running in the horrific weather, also thank you Racheal for the chocoltaes and a MASSIVE WELL DONE for you 50 good deeds, the next social will be in your honour!
Also well done to both Hanna and Simone for running the hillest parkrun on sat over in the lakes, sound like you had a wonderful adventure.
A truly magical evening, making great connections and making a room full of people happy,
Have a great week running folks,

So tonight we were greeted by the wonderful Jim and his lovely dog Roxy, it was as ever great of them to pop and say hi! and lovely to hear his running adventures, at the minute he is training a blind lady so that she can run the Manchester half marathon! awesome work Jim, cant wait to hear more about it.
We met at Produce Hall, this weeks task was to deliver 350 community newspapers, called Heatons post, this a community newspaper that is jam packed with wonderful things happening in the area, as well as great community projects and things going on. Having a quick flick through, this issue has Parkrun, and Heatons conservation collective, as well as food banks, and local events, a really good informative read, and in the next issue we will be featuring us!! yay, fame at last for Goodgym Stockport......woooo.
The task location was over in Heaton Mersey, we had a nice relaxing run over then took it nice and easy delivering the newspapers, in total we ran 6km.
The evening was a nice chilled one, until there were only 15 papers per person left, then it got competitive.......
Each runner had 15 papers, and they had to post them as fast they could, the winner was Rob, posting all papers in 4mins 39 second, well done dude, one day I will get you fish and chips for a prize?!
Other news, we need to arrange a social soon!
Have a wonderful week folks, thanks and well done for this evening,

*Hats off to those that came along tonight! * They may have been small hats and blankets but a massive well done to you all for your effort! And the run wasn't small either, running just over 8.5km to get to our location and back.
We all met at the usual location of Produce Hall, setting off at 6.30pm. The evenings task was to run up to Stepping Hills neonatal unit to deliver 20 knitted hats and 2 crocheted blankets that we have worked hard to create over the winter months, the task itself came up one evening when at the last minute bad weather made a task impossible, so i had to come up with something fast, I'm pretty crafty and so thought we could have a go at knitting hats, Mmmm its wasn't easy! but we did have a good go, and then a few people carried it on and made some at home, the second time we did the task this time i thought that crocheting would be easier (it wasn't!) But again, the fabulous Goodgymers encouarged each other and kept trying! and eventually we had 2 blankets and more that are half made, so another session to both craft and create and to run to the hospital is going to happen.
The whole process of this task has been fantastic, watching people learn a new skill and help each other has been wonderful, and tonight we got to send our work to the neonatal unit at Stepping hill, which is a wonderful unit, providing care and love for babies and families at a much needed time, it has also been a talking point for many of us who have had personal experiences at the unit, ranging from being born premature, to spending time at the unit, to the likes of Debs who made it to the local paper when her son was born premature, its something thats had a big effect on the group.
Thank you all so much for being for being who you are, that was the last run for this month, and a great one to end on, Good luck to all those racing, park running and training this wk end, enjoy it, have a great week running,

Today was our extra session for January, a wonderful opportunity to get new people involved in what Goodgym is all about. Our extra session was help at Woodbank/Vernon Parkrun, I was met by Brendan and Tony with lots of enthusiasm about what Goodgym is all about, I then donned my Goodgym flag and did a little speech to all the runners about us, where we meet and what we do. It was fab to see so many people out running in the freeing cold conditions. Great work Racheal and Anne for running so fast on what is a tough Park run, well to Racheal for a PB, na d good work Anne as you were also coach running later that day!
A few other Goodgymers met later on that day too to run Lyme parks/national trusts "Night Run" a 7km run in the dark through the mud and woodlands, great fun! It was wonderful to meet up with Hannah, Simone and Rob, also Robs wife Sally, well done guys, hope you enjoyed your soup.
