GoodGym travels
With 58 GoodGym areas across the UK, you can join a session that suits you

Stockport
Run like the wind
What started the day as rainy, windy and a dubious leaflet delivering task day, ended with sunshine, humidity and a BIG (LOCAL) batch of leaflets successfully making their way to the letter boxes of Brinnington!
Brinnington Big local are holding a number of big events in the coming weeks, combining a spectrum of community projects and organisations in the hope to raise awareness of community support in the area.
Week 1 of delivering had seen us take the lower side of the town whilst this evening's target area was the nothern side.
Laden with rucksacks, we chattered our way, meandering through a 5km circuit of the town, delivering the Big Local message as we went.
A job well done!

Groundwork group run leaflet drop

What is GoodGym?
We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every week to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations and projects in our area.
The Task: Groundwork is a federation of charities mobilising practical community action on poverty and the environment across the UK. They are passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny and no-one is held back by their background or circumstances. Our task is to aid them in delivering leaflets to raise awareness of an upcoming event in the community.
The Run/walk
GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities and it is often possible to walk to the task if you would prefer. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.
We will meet at Life Leisure Brinnington at 6:30pm on Tuesday 2nd August and set off on foot on a route to deliver the leaflets.

Sock it to ‘em!
Last night our lovely GoodGym-ers went to the Little Green Sock project to help them sort and distribute support packages to those who are experiencing clothing poverty. We managed 7 whole bags!
We also helped LGSP celebrate winning £10k funding for their continued work. Brilliant!
Well done and thanks all!

WEDS NIGHT GROUP SESH - The Little Green Sock Project!

Welcome to GoodGym Trafford!
This week we will be helping fab and brand new charity Little Green Sock Project to set up their new gifted premises.
At Little Green Sock Project we are on a mission to help reduce the effects of poverty within our own community. 1 in 10 children in Trafford are in ‘absolute’ poverty, this rises to 3 in 10 when looking at Manchester as a whole.
They need lots of help and we are the crew for the job!

Can't see the (Beech) wood for the trees
This week's group run saw the return of 6 GoodGymers to Beechwood Cancer Care Centre to help them to continue to tidy up their outdoor space, chop down bushes, pull out weeds and general spruce up the area.
On foot or by wheels, we arrived at Beechwood warmed up and ready to amBUSH and get to work.
Rob took the reins with the hedge trimmers to cut down the overgrown hedges.
Lauren got snappy with the secateurs.
Sian revved up the lawn mover to trim the lawn.
Laura, Hannah and Sarah heave ho'd the weeds to clear the pathways.
An hour spent in the glorious sunshine, and what a difference it made!
