For one night only!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

Runners took the spot light at Norden Farm putting their best foot forwards to extend those green fingers in search of that star quality and tackle the entrance courtyard.

With no audience to watch the performance unfold as "Rona Vi & Rus" locked the doors the cast of "GG Goes Gardening" set to weeding and sweeping the gravel walkways and drive in.

Even with the wheelbarrow rolling a flat tyre it didn't stop us from reaching the final curtain to an encore of roses and cheers.... Or dried leaves and Dandelions.

GG Goes Gardening's sell out opening night as no one could get in is set to tour a 5km route near you soon!

Snow joke they were St Edmund Champions

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Laura W

I arrived at St Edmund Campion as one of the snow flurries was coming to an end. Tricia showed me around and our range of tasks. Sophie and Kate arrived next and got cracking straight away with the painting. Matt and Nicola wasted no thyme before tackling the gardening and weeding. Tricia knew our needs to a tee and took a hot beverage order. We all carried on with our tasks throughout the strange April weather of sunny snow showers. Thanks to Kate and Sophie's strokes of genius the painting was smoothly finished. We managed to get the pool maintenance building looking fresh. A special thank you to Kate and Matt for finishing off the painting that was out of my reach. Nicola dug deep in her first her task to get so much accomplished - good work!

Community Cape

Kate Kenny earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Kate completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Kate was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Why did the baby toad cross the road?

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Nicola Porter

...to get to the other side! And they all travelled safely by bucket, thanks to help of some lovely volunteers.

Two of us from Good Gym joined a few other families and wildlife enthusiasts out to look for the baby toads near the lake. They are so small they were hard to spot, and the youngest volunteers - closer to the ground with the sharpest eyes! - had most success in finding them. We did our best and learnt a lot from the children and parents who had done it many times before. The forecast rain, which apparently brings them out in their hundreds, never came, so there were perhaps fewer toadlets then they anticipated. But all those captured - at least 20! - and one baby newt were released safely into the grasses the other side of Ray Mill Road East. Mission Accomplished!

*Edited by Amy to add that Jen Francis also came across the toads on her run earlier in the week and helped with the rescue. Well done Jen, Nicola and Kate! Want to see the toads for yourself? Sign up to join the rescue effort here!
