Imogen Batten-Turner has done their first good deed with GoodGym.

Imogen is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Imogen Batten-Turner earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Imogen completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Imogen was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Leaping into a Spring Clean can be tyre-ing work

Oxford Report written by Ben Foster

With Storm Jorge threatening, 5 Goodgymers leapt into action to pick up litter in West Oxford as part of OxClean's Spring Clean 2020 event. Armed with gloves, refuse sacks, high viz and litter pickers (the latter kindly provided by the West Oxford Community Centre) we slowly made our way around the community centre and up Binsey Lane, picking up whatever waste we could find.

The combination of fast cars and puddles in the road meant we did get a little bit wet from oncoming traffic and it perhaps wasn't surprising that we found a bumper crop of wing mirrors and car... erm… bumpers plus a car tyre on the narrow road. More unsurprisingly we found several golf balls nestled in the hedges with Oxford Golf Centre nearby. Other notable items included a tattered portable DVD player, the handle of a mop and a section of carpet.

In all, we filled 8 refuse sacks in addition to the items that didn't fit in (the tyre and carpet included) so hopefully Binsey Lane is looking a little cleaner now and people think twice about fly tipping and littering in the future. More pictures will follow.

Special thanks to OxClean for providing the high viz and refuse sacks and Oxford Direct Services who were able to pick up the sacks once we had finished.

The handle of a mop?! I was led to believe that was some sort of majestic wizard's staff!...

Well done gang! Last year we took the collection of golf balls back into the golf centre to try and shame them into collecting them up in future. Clearly it didn’t work!
