For this week's issue of GoodGym... Brambles.
We assembled at the Bridge House, welcomed Henrietta to the crew and named ourselves and our favourite tube or train lines.
Then we set off to Albion Millenium Green, where we met Jorella from the friends group who had a prickly task for us.
Ramble in the bramble.
Lots of the lovely bluebells were getting shrouded by overgrown bramble bushes, so our job was to cut them back in a few different areas. Armed with secateurs, shears, saws and even a scythe(!) we got to work trimming and swiping until the areas looked much tidier.
Nice job & jog everyone ๐

After naming ourselves and our current book we're reading (what a literary bunch!), we made our way down to Cator Park. We nabbed the keys from Millie and equipped ourselves with many shovels, a wheelbarrow and a brush to tidy up.
This has been our third in a series of sessions to widen the main path into the park. The mud and grass has been creeping over for years so we've been freeing almost a metre of path in some places ๐ฎ
Slicing and dicing gives you a proper good workout and thankfully we had Molly on barrowing duty picking up all our mud clods.
See pics for what a difference we had made - so much room!
Lovely stuff everyone ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ

Seeing this mission listed made me feel like a lemon, after all I'd done the original fix on the old toilet seat a couple of months ago and it obviously needing doing again now. Pah. Anyway, this time Mrs L had bought a new toilet seat, so the problem with the old fixings last time (and why it failed) went away. Nice simple, literally-5-minute job to install the new one. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

This would help Mrs L be able to use her toilet and bathroom safely and give her some privacy.

A small army of GoodGymmers, scouts, councillors and other local residents helped to plant a Tiny Forest of 600 trees in Cator Park on Saturday. Expertly stewarded by the Friends of Alexandra Recreation Ground and Cator Park and the team at Earthwatch, all of the planting, mulching and raking was completed in less than four hours and there was even time for tea and home made cake. Yum!

A toad-ally awesome 11 of us met up last night for a jog and some good deeding.
We were joined for the first time by Tim and Adam - welcome! ๐
After a naming and fave biscuit loop, we hit the road. Hannah and Molly took the shorter, direct route, whilst the rest of us opted for the longest hill ever.
We arrived to meet John who was fully prepared with tools.
The water tower base at Crystal Palace Museum is an amazing historic structure and the museum team are keen to clear it out of soil, weeds and rubble so that it can be safely accessed as part of visitorsโ museum experiences.
We focussed on a couple of specific areas, aiming to reach down to the concrete and pipes below.
John found a massive toad, hence the pun! ๐ธ
10+ bucket-loads of soil sieved later, we called it a day and headed back down the hill for some stretches.
Great stuff everyone ๐ฅณ
