A new location for a new task. We will be painting and planting at Heathside Care Home.
This can be now a group run, so we can meet at Woking leisure Centre and run from there.
Back at the allotment and in goes some veggies
It was a busy evening at the allotment last night. With the old daffodils out and new veggies in. We also welcomed Andrew to his first mission last night. We hope you had an enjoyable evening.
Anne, Maya and Becky were busy removing weeds from the main part of the allotment. Also thank you to Becky who provided us with some sweet treats - we all clearly love smarties! Also thank you to Christine (a friend of James) who brought us over some jugs of squash and cups to help keep us hydrated!
The potatoes we put into the ground last month were finally sprouting so we dug them over to help push more potatoes down! We also planted some runner beans, broad beans and artichokes.
A big well done to every one, as part of mental health week - nothing can beat an evening in the garden.
We will be meeting at WWF carpark for some litter picking along the canal and in the nearby park areas. Don't forget your gloves!
Meet at Brookwood Station at 6:45pm.
We have a lot of work to do so we will be continuing with our tasks.
If you are wanting to run from Woking town then it is an easy route straight down the canal and is just under 7km. It will be dark once we complete the task - so think ahead and remember a torch if you running back or you can get the train back into work and costs just under £4.
We are part of the Brookwood Community Gardening Project and we have been granted with funds to create a sustainable garden at Brookwood Station. We have two outdoor areas out the front of the station. Planters on platform 2 and another area on Platform 1 to improve.
Please remember your gloves and also face mask.
An evening of Brambles and Nettles
Last night Woking GG members met at the Millbrook RSPCA center to help clear the brambles and nettles which go along the horse paddock.
It's been almost 9 months since we have been to the RSPCA and it's one of nicest spots for a mission. We were working along side a pregnant horse who was due to give birth any day. With 6 of us working hard, we managed to clear the whole side of the field!
A big welcome back Susan who joined us for her second mission but first one of this year!
James was on top form and being the only male, he may have got picked on slightly. I promise I won't write anything bad! Although the best comment of the night was James to be the new Milky Bar Kid!! I can see the similarities :
A big well done to every one again!
Next week we will be at:
Brockhill Care Home - The task will be starting at 7pm. I know some at meeting at 6:45pm at the WWF carpark to run to the mission! Please remember your Masks for this mission!
More digging at the allotment
It was a beautiful evening at the allotment and we had a few more weeds to get rid of... But we are now almost there. We have many veggies to plant next time we are at the allotment! This week we enjoyed another harvest from the Rhubarb, it just keeps on giving!
We lost Anne as she tried out her new camo gear!
A big well done to James and Wayne who took part in the brutal last weekend, it sounded hard work!
Next Week we will be at the RSPCA to help remove the brambles around the horses field. There is car parking available for those who are driving! I look forward to seeing you there.
All aboard for the GG Train
We started a brand new project with SW Rail. To turn Bookwood Train station into a sustainable garden. There are some large areas to transform but we can't wait to get started. The first area we are starting on is the area out the front. We will be turning this area into a wild flower garden area to welcome the local bees and butterflies.
A big well done to everyone who ran to the community mission from their homes. Anne and James took the route all the way from Woking town center!
Good Luck James and Wayne
This weekend they will be racing at Pippingford Park in the first Brutal race of the year! Good luck and we can't wait to hear about the hills and the mud next week.
We will be at the allotment to continue with the allotment project. We have some runner beans to go in and some more weeding to do. Look forward to seeing you there- please remember your own gloves!
