6 go to Somerlyton Gardens

Norwich Report written by Elizabeth H

Elizabeth,Liz, Hannah, Rachel, Mark & Johnathan arrived at Somerlyton Gardens for our carry on from last week. It was Rachel’s 52nd deed her 50th had been done on her own so we gave her a 50 badge to mark the special occasion. Well done Rachel see you in black soon. Mark’s task was to level the ground around the compost bin, Rachel and Elizabeth tackled another of the beds, taking out everything except the roses . Some of the thistles were very sharp, thank goodness for our gloves. Liz, Hannah and Jonathan tackled the large bed dug over last week which was prepared then covered in compost ready for planting. Then all of us focused on de weeding the edges of all the beds giving a lovely finish. I'm not your Steppin' Stone

Norwich Report written by Steven Hitcham

6 GoodGymers visited Grapes Hill Community Garden, the first organisation we ever visted over 3 years ago on our first group run.

The main task was to create some stepping stones what will create a new path to attract more families and young people to the garden.

A good start was that none of us new how to mix cement haha, but luckily Jo, the gardener roughly knew the sand to cement ration, so we gave it a whirl!

We all took it in turns to mix some up, while Elizabeth and Penny also did a bit of sweeping.

Once it was mixed and poured into containers to set, it was then our job to decorate them with pebbles, shells etc. before they set. Penny did a wonderful job in creating a 'GoodGym' stepping stone to leave our mark.

We will return again to place them in the ground.
