Community Cape

Hannah Duncan earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.

Hannah completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Hannah was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Patio ga ga

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Jassy Drakulic

There was still plenty of heat in the day left when Caroline, Tara, Sevan, Jassy and Hannah met at the Quaker centre to warm up and run to Searchlight for our mission. We met Emily there who had already made great progress on our task of pulling up the weeds in the patio at the front of the community centre. The rest of caught up, donning gloves and wielding table knives to help wriggle up the dandelion roots. Task owner Peter was happy for us to leave the low lying plants, which inspired an interesting chat about "what is a weed?". We called time on the mission, having got up all the large weeds and cleared away the debris. Jassy gave everyone a mini lesson in plant pathology (whether they liked it or not) when finding rust on a mallow (plus another fungus living on the rust!). We said our thanks and goodbyes to Peter and ran back to base. Well done to Hannah for a successful first GG group run, and for Jassy completing her first as run leader!
