A peony for your thoughts

Liverpool Report written by John Connaghan

A team of 11 Goodgym walkers and runners set out to brighten up the SANCTUARY Yarden.

Gathering around the Suitcases, the energy was bubbling as new and old Goodgym members met. It was brilliant to have Frances join us, returning to help this brilliant charity. After a top to toe warm up, we headed off. Pauline leading the walking group and the runners taking a scenic route to admire the Wigwam and Giraffe buildings before rendevousing in Crown St Park. Selfies and parading complete the team met the wonderful Maddie who had everything ready to go. A mix of clearing top soil, weeding and emptying soil commenced with the team working slickly. Two planters were completely revived with fresh compost and the rest were weeded and topped. The difference was considerable and left the Yarden looking much more fitting of the place name.

Well done team for the great effort, thanks to Pauline for walk leading and photos and to Steph for the pun!

Twenty Seasons In One Day

Liverpool Report written by Matthew

The Liverpool Half Marathon is a regular event in the calender and is a massive logistical challenge requiring many volunteers to make it happen, so it was wonderful for Good Gymers to be able to help out and man the last water station at the twelve mile mark. To say that we went beyond the call of duty is an understatement. It rained, it was freezing, the wind howled and was had some hail thrown in for good measure and a bit of sun as well, which gave some blessed relief from the cold. It was frenetic but everyone chipped in and supported the epic runners on such a hostile day and gave them some welcome water near to the end of the course. A big should out to all who attended but especially those who came up from Lambeth to take part. We even managed to clear up all the bottles and caps at the end. Good job Good Gymers.

Thanks for giving up your time and putting your bodies in utter horrendous conditions for us running the event, as god knows it was cold enough running it never mind trying to stay warm. So much appreciated

Frances completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Frances was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Liverpool x Lambeth: Who Had the Edge? It Was A Turf Call.

Liverpool Report written by Char Binns

We are made up to welcome GoodGym Lambeth to our boss city for the weekend.

After a Friday night welcome social last night, this morning 22 runners from GoodGym Liverpool and Lambeth, plus a bonus couple from GG York, ran 4km to help the Friends of Everton Park.

The main task was to edge a path and as multi branch dream team, we made light work of it. There was also a secondary task with a team busy lopping rouge branches off lower tree trunks.

The atmosphere was much warmer than the weather, and the views were worth braving the brief hail storm.

Tomorrow we're looking forward to taking on the Liverpool Half Marathon and 10-Miler. Plus there's another Community Mission with a GG team staffing the 12-miler water stall.

Thanks again for visiting us Team Lambeth - you're a fab bunch.
