Yoga talk
Strength training one of the most important elements of yoga as we grow older. We lose 3% of our strength from 50 years old per year. ( Dr Chatterjee ) our muscles provide energy production and storage. Acting like sponges for sugars. An important way to fight diabetes and stronger muscles help us burn more calories during the day.

Yoga talk
Set the intention before practice the focus on the body and breath.
“An initial period of concentration—conscious, directed attention—needs to be followed by some amount of unconscious processing…the key to solving a problem is to take a break from worrying, to move the problem to the back burner, to let the unwatched pot boil.”

Despite the rain, GoodGym Barnet embraced the challenge with gusto during our run from the Phoenix Cinema. We conducted an extended warm-up to prepare for the weather, then tackled litter on the High Street, filling four bags. Amidst the rain, we bonded over conversations with friends, pairing up to ensure everyone had a chance to connect. Our run wasn't just about fitness; it was about strengthening community bonds, rain or shine.

Yoga encourages Three-dimensional Movement.
Much of our lives are spent moving our bodies in only one direction. Whether we’re sitting on a chair, flexing our neck up and down to look at screens or moving between floors by going up and down stairs, we’re drastically limited in our range of motions. Our bodies were designed to move in 3 dimensions, yet modern life forces us to largely move in only one.
Useful ideas here about movement in space , variability, play and discovery in a regular short practice. Waking up new movements and mobility, stamina and strength.

Throughout January, GoodGym members took on a special community mission: cleaning up their own neighborhoods. With litter picking they showed that small actions make a big difference.
One member, on holiday in Dorset, encountered a local scuba diver emerging from the sea. The diver happily posed with a litter picker.
This encounter inspired a couple of puns : "Dive into Cleanliness: A Splash of Environmental Action" or "Making Waves: GoodGym's Dive into Litter Pick-Up."
Thanks to all those that took part we will look to go next month.
