Getting Glyndon with the painting
Two Goodgym runners ran to the Glyndon Community Centre in Woolwich, an affordable meeting place for statutory, voluntary, community health, leisure and educational activities. On arrival we were met by the amazing Andy who provided us with paint, brushes and, most importantly, a cup of tea and who directed us to the fence in need of a lick of paint. After an hours of painting in ever decreasing light the fence was looking much improved.

Painting and gardening at Glyndon Community Centre

Glyndon Community Centre provides affordable space for voluntary groups to host social activities for local people. They are looking for regular support to help with the upkeep of the building and garden. We'll be getting involved in a range of jobs including gardening, painting the fence and building, garage clearance and general tidying up.
Come and get stuck in.
Bring some gloves and wear something you don't mind getting paint splatters on!

Back to tonights run...
As we met up at Crook Log ready for tonights run, the Goodgym Bexley team just kept coming! After a quick warm up and headcount, we had a total of 15 Goodgymers ready for tonights task. There were two groups heading on two different routes to tonights task.
The runners - were taking in a loop around the outside of Danson Park, conveniently passing the outdoor gym equipment. We used this to our advantage and had a quick go on the apparatus as we passed!
The walkers - were taking a more direct route, straight to the English Gardens, with the aim to beat the runners...and they did. By the time the runners arrived, the guys were already hacking away at that willow tree that keeps growing more and more each time we go back!
The gardens were buzzing tonight with lots of the regular volunteers from the Friends of Danson group as they are busy prepping for the *London in Bloom * judging on Thursday.
Digging for Victory
We split into teams in order to try and tackle multiple areas of the garden.
Trimmers - Cutting back the willow branches from the path, so that people are able to walk under them, not through them!
De-tanglers - Pulling up the bindweed that had taken over some of the flower beds
Tidying-uppers - The clean up crew, following the ones making a mess with a broom, wheelbarrow and a bucket to pick up all the off cuttings
Diggers - Turning over the soil, pulling up the weeds, and trying to dig up the big roots which had been trimmed back.
By the time the task was over we had made a big difference to the Garden!
We have a community missions coming up towards the end of the month back at the English Gardens. Check it out here
Thanks for coming tonight and for all your hard work!
See you next time!
Happy Running!
