Flyering ahead of Santa's Sleigh!

Tue 7 Dec 19:00 pm
Bridge House, 2 High St, London, SE20 8RZ
Help support lots of local charities

Santa Claus is coming to town! The Monday after this actually. πŸŽ…πŸ»

But we need to let people know! We're going to be putting flyers through people's doors, making them aware that the big man is going to be heading their way, and that he'll be helped by some elves (which could be you! - click here) who will be collecting donations for several local charities including The Maypole Project who support children with complex and life-threatening illnesses.

We've got some long roads to cover so need many hands on deck! It'll be a good 4km in total, but the faster you run between houses, the more exercise you get πŸ˜‰

It's free, it's from 7-9pm and it's max. 6 people to a team but hopefully we can get 2 teams to pit against each other!

GG Bromley does The Bridge House Quiz!

Thu 4 Nov 19:30 pm
Bridge House, 2 High St, London, SE20 8RZ
At least our team name is sorted...

The Bridge House hosts a pub quiz every Thursday from 8pm and it'd be nice if we could put at least one team together!

It's Β£3 per person and there's a (small) chance you could walk home with more!

It's 6 people to a team, so if we have more than 6 we'll have to make 2 teams, so PLEASE SIGN UP to this by Tuesday next week so I can book tables. And keep an eye on your emails in case they've run out of spots...

Arrive from 7:30 if you like to get in the zone.

Post Busters!

Mon 25 Oct
β€’
Report written by Mark Gilyead

Who you gonna call?

Probably a keen team of 7 Ghoolish GoodGymers who smashed though nearly 400 flyers for the British Heart Foundation.

We kicked off saying hallo(ween) and discussed the most exciting thing we did with our weekends. Quite an interesting bunch of people actually.

Then we ran and skipped round in circles in the park to warm up, before running down Penge High Street.

At the bottom, we split into two teams to disperse some flyers for the awesome BHF. They're a bit low on volunteers in their shops, so our plan was to dash door-to-door, dropping off flyers which aim to get people involved in their work.

Clare, George and Stephen ran a bit further past Clock House station to spread the word, whilst Ian, Nick, Holly and I stuck around the bottom of Penge.

We met at 8pm, took a few snaps with the famous Penge street art and most of us ran back up to the Bridge House, and a few of us stayed for a beverage! 🍻

Great work guys! πŸ₯³πŸŽƒ

Delivering leaflets for the British Heart Foundation

Mon 25 Oct 18:45 pm
Bridge House, 2 High St, London, SE20 8RZ
Help spread the word about their shops and the need for more volunteers

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈWelcome to GoodGym Bromley!πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

We’re a super friendly group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. Every Wednesday we meet to get active and do a physical task to help charities or community organisations across Penge.

WHERE WE MEET

We meet outside the Bridge House pub in Penge. You can lock your bike up in their beer garden but there’s currently nowhere to leave bags so please come ready to run.

THE TASK

The British Heart Foundation has asked us for help delivering some flyers as they're low on volunteers and would love to get some more locals involved with running their charity shops.

We'll have about 500 flyers to deliver through people's doors around Penge (and potentially Beckenham too!)

A head torch may be useful, and maybe some hand sanitiser?!

RUNNING WITH US

We welcome runners of all abilities and we always have a back-marker so no one gets left behind. We usually run at a relaxed pace and tasks are never more than 4km from the pub.

Any questions? Drop me an email!

A Brush of Paint to the Head

Wed 22 Sep
β€’
Report written by Mark Gilyead

Three absolutely legends (not sure if it's okay to include myself in that...) gave up their Wednesday evening for a jog to Melvin Hall to do a spot of painting!

We had a relaxed 2k run to get there, including a chat about the wonders/dangers of axe throwing, as you do.

When we arrived, we searched for John who armed us with some paint, brushes, white spirit and some post-run cokes πŸ€«πŸ˜‹

Our task was to add some protective white paint to a particularly absorbant gate... We soon found out that said gate didn't like white paint much and due to our various painting styles, we realised we were definitely going to need to come back for a return visit!

I had a quite loose "artistic style" and Nick went for the thick approach, which led to one gate becoming quite patchy... Clare however, went for a thin and consistent layer, creating a more aesthetically pleasing gate...

As the title of this run suggests, paint did indeed get everywhere. Oops.

We left the gate in a bit of a state, but the paint takes 16 hours to dry so we couldn't do another coat anyway - phew! Next time it'll look awesome. πŸ‘Œ

Great stuff guys! πŸ‘
