Fitness 4 All - Kennington

Southwark Report written by Joel Wiles

3 GoodGymers smashed a highly productive 60 minutes of Running form and fitness.

A smaller group this week allowed us to really focus down on each runners individual form and execute a multitude of drills and reps to really try to improve the power and efficiency of each runner.

A big test of coordination was needed as we broke down the running stride into sections, got then down to a T then put the parts back together again.

Awesome running and focus from the group this evening and great to see the pay off start to come to the surface in the last part of the session with some super relaxed and speedy running reps.

have a great week and look forward to next weeks session.

We Jammin!!

Westminster Report written by Joel Wiles

15 awesome GoodGymers ran 7k to One Big Family homeless charity and made a huge feast for the holes community of Westminster.

Great to have a few GoodGym first timers and Westminster first timers to coming along for a hugely important task with One Big Family homeless charity.

With a bit of a tight sandwich making deadline tonight we bust out the New Balance front door and settled into a very strong pace as we made our way South towards Pimlico.

Navigating through the busy Central London foot traffic we made good ground. With a few on the scout team up ahead seeing the lay of the sandwich making labs we were directed to the Lodge where we set about creating and dominating a super efficient production line!

Splitting into 2 groups the first set about bagging the mound of pastries ready for consumption. While the sandwich makers hit a great rhythm spreading, filling and bagging a sky high pile of sandwiches!! With some speedy cheese grating, smooth Jamming, and hectic ham laying were are on point this evening as the butter was perfectly spread to provide plenty of speedy bread supply.

With all the food ready to go we expertly stacked the boxes onto the fastest trolley you have ever seen!

With the first group heading directly back to base being lead by Damian the GGEats delivery service zoomed around to behind Victoria station where the food will be distributed throughout the evening to the homeless community. It was great to see where and to who the food we make on each visit goes.

Working hard on our way back to base we all managed to arrive safely back together and on time where we stretched out and headed home with a top task complete!

Next week we are off Christmas decorating for Open Age charity craft fair so bring your artistic flair for tinsel and glitter along for the run.

Have a great week

Fitness 4 All- Kennington

Southwark Report written by Joel Wiles

7 full in tune GoodGymers used pure controlled speed to crush a top Fitness 4 All session in Kennington.

Great to be back in Kennington and at the magical Cleaver Square. Everyone totally controlled first their balance with a series of single leg mobility and activation exercises before we really focused on our core balancing muscles with some closed eyes balances before we started pushing each other about with Balance dominos. Then we moved onto some single leg strength exercises to hit some pistol squats and balance back lunges.

We then got running with some perfect pacing laps predicting our times for each lap while we increased or decreased our effort to give us a perfect opportunity to feel when we rise or drop the pace.

To mix it up a bit we then got into some controlled running drills to really get into ideal position to be an efficient runner!

Rounding off the session with some gamble laps! Where we worked in pairs to chase down our partner leaving our start as long as we dare!

Hope you all enjoyed the session and look forward to seeing you to the rest of the block in Kennington!!

Hope to see you next week or another Thursday soon!

Fitness 4 All - Kennington

On a beautiful December evening 8 fitness seeking GoodGymers joined forces to dominate a series of technique drills and relays!

With our normal Cleaver Square raceway feeling a little greasy we took to the London trails and worked our magic on the gravel.

A little leg loosening jog followed by some knee driving marching got us going! A muscle activating, mobility developing series of dynamic stretches followed before an blood pumping pulse raiser of Star Jumps, High Knees and Mountain climbers.

We then got down to the session alternating pacey relay efforts and flair high fives with form drills. As the efforts quickened and we really started to look like we were running down hill. We focused on knee drive, Return phase of stride and Hip mobility and coordination in the three blocks of running form drills.

Done scorching running efforts finished off a great session! Real impressive improvements shown tonight, great to see!!

Be great to see you for our final session of the year and last one for a while in Kennington next week!! Sign up here

Fitness 4 All will be heading to Lewisham for January meeting at New Cross Gate station. Sign up for the first session here.

Quick and Smooth

Joel
