With various Park Runs on the go around our area we have plenty to report on- with thanks to Elizabeth, Angela and Liz.

CATTON -

Catton Parkrun run #329. 464 people were assisted by the wind up the middle of the park today it was a blustery day. Also through the woods there were Mole Hill hazards which the Run Director warned everyone about and certainly many runners commented about them at the end!

Katy and Bill were funnel managers, I was timekeeper again, Bobby was put in charge of a clipboard & pen for recording the barcodes and tokens that didn’t scan. On receipt of said clipboard Bobby managed to spill his coffee over it 🙈 (no surprise there then, bless him). We were all very busy today, but still always an enjoyable Community Mission for a brilliant organisation.

Our very own Goodgymer Ryan come in 4, Johnathan was completing his 1st Parkrun, Andy, Cheskia, Catherine, Simon, Kevin R completed the list of Goodgymers participating today . long live Parkrun.

SLOUGHBOTTOM

It's parkrun Saturday and we're having ball (or few) at Sloughbottom. A fun commute jog this morning as I got blown down the road to Sloughbottom parkrun, there's a PB strategy there if I could get the wind behind me all the way!

Today, I was volunteering again at this lovely little parkrun meeting up with the ever friendly Slowbum parkrun volunteer family at the pavillion. Number checker was the task for me for event number 36 , so no commuting to any marshal points and a bit of time for a mardle with the crew and some of the regular runners.

Run Director, Chris started his briefing with the loud horn on his megaphone which soon woke everyone up! A few first timers, some milestones (50, 100 and 200) and parkrun tourists visiting from places as far flung as Peterborough and NEW ZEALAND!

I spotted one GoodGymer in the crowd, David, and Pete also gave me a hello as we walked over to the start. Then they were off and we set up the finish funnel as we waited for the runners to come in.

Kate also produced some bags of brightly coloured foam balls which, after deciding who had the best technique/strength for poking holes into with a pair of scissors (it was me!!), were installed over the top of the possibly hazardous finish funnel spikes. A technicolour solution to something recently pulled up on a H&S assessment. We got a little obsessed about it and were only happy when the balls were switched around to match up the colours.

288 runners later, including 37 PB,s and everyone safely over the line - a pretty good shout for such a windy day.

Come and join the Sloughbottom volunteer team, if you're ever free on Saturday, we'd be glad to see you! :0)

EATON

A bit grey and blustery at Eaton ParkRun today but a very high turn out none the less!
