Mission

Digging roots is just asking for trowels

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.

This afternoon I met up with Rupesh for a mission in Camden (& also for a general catch-up 😄)

Our task was to help to tidy up Ms N's garden: she had a few plants in the garden that she wanted pulling up, but she's no longer able to do this herself. This is where we came into help!

On arrival, Ms N gave us a warm welcome and hot drinks, before showing us out to her garden. As she pointed out the plants to be cleared, Rupesh and I were both pleased to see that it was simple enough that there wouldn't be room for any confusion. We were also pleased to see that Ms N had a variety of tools for the job, and so we didn't need to ask for anything else! 😄

Over the course of an hour or so, Rupesh and I chatted (Rupesh should perhaps not adopt a green beard) and generally pulled up the indicated plants using trowels and forks. Rupesh also broke up a small trellis-like fence that Ms N wanted to get rid of using Paul's patented stick breaking technique. This technique wasn't exactly suited to pulling out some of the nails in the fence, so we just did that old-school with brute force (we're hard as nails in Camden).

As we finished up and made our goodbyes to Ms N, I displayed my spatial awareness skills to Rupesh by showing him how to fit a black bag full of sticks into a bin. Great working with you Rupesh! Hopefully catch you on one soon for another weird selfie! 😁

Great stuff, both - I'm intrigued by the idea of a patented stick breaking technique

You'll have to visit Barnet sometime so you can see it in action :D (also, professional pride means that I should say the patently obvious: I doubt the stick breaking technique is really patented. It does make a satisfying snap though! :D)
