Kate, Wed-Fri Midday. Weed all about it.

I made the most of the beautiful weather during my lunch breaks this week & made 3 separate quick trips to the plot. My intention was to water all of the sunken pots & their associated shrubs to give them a chance during this mini heatwave, as the curled dried leaves on the acers are making me a bit sad. On Wednesday, I watered, did a little weeding and deadheaded the pink flowers in the top corner of the bed. I think they're gorgeous & Anita has promised me that the more we cut them the more they'll grow so I decided to take her at her word! On Thursday, I watered again and weeded a little. The tide was very low so I had to get my feet wet to reach the water & be very careful on the slippy steps. I was kept company by a neighbour to the plot & his 'nosy' french bulldog who resolutely refused to move as he was 'interested in what I was up to' apparently! On Friday, my watering was interrupted by the friendly gardener from the terrace gardens. He was very complimentary about the plot but not so much about our weeding! He pointed out a whole host I'd missed, so challenge accepted, they're on my hit list now.

Adam. Thursday 17 Sept.

The flowers and insect hotel residents were out in force to greet me following my arrival at the Pigeon’s Plot.

By chance, I also bumped into a fellow plotter in Kate, who was taking a well earned lunch break.

We subsequently divided up the lunchtime’s watering between us, the guests certainly seemed grateful.

The Hotel as always was receiving admiring looks from passers by with a number of photos being taken, overall a positive experience was had by all.

Sunday 20 Sept. Cathy, Africa & Jane: We Got A Hand On This!

On a beautiful Sunday morning from between 10-12am, Africa, Jane and I got on with some weeding and watering. As the path was so muddy/slippery to the river, Jane decided to get a handle on the water situation with help from the supply at the canoe club. Meanwhile, being Africa's first community mission since her return, she got into those weeds with extra-action and was happy to ask admiring passerby's with green thumbs, to point out which were weeds and which plants weren't! Interesing that in Spain, Poppies are so widespread that they are considered like weeds! One by one we elbowed our way out after a thoroughly enjoyable time together.
