Three Pigeons Post: Anytime Sessions week ending 30/8/2020

Sat 29 Aug. Cathy Kate & Monika.

Each time I visit, the plot looks different with new growth and this time, arrived to find a couple of friends already weeding away and keen to show that there was plenty to get on with! Inspired by their efforts, I too got in there and we each worked on clearing various patches, filling buckets and freeing the flowers and foliage to benefit more of the nutrient and water rich soil! We came across quite a few worms, a good indicator of healthy soil, I think.

Dog walkers and joggers passing by thanked and cheered us saying that it made a difference passing the beautiful space each day and a group of ladies marveling the development, enquired whether still maintained by The Richmond Society. Kate, who knew the history best explained that under new management 🙂 and how it organically came about.

While Monika headed off to another mission, Kate also kindly showed me (for next time) a large patch of weeds that have what look like tiny butter cup like flowers - may not have otherwise known that these too are unwelcome guests.
