Tesco / The Trussell Trust Christmas Collection 2021

From 18th-20th November, in association with Tesco and The Trussell Trust, the biggest collection of the year returns. Covid-19 restrictions meant that some of the previous Tesco collections were altered or in some cases, couldn’t go ahead. The donations collected go towards emergency food parcels over the Winter, the food bank’s busiest time of year. Here’s some information on how you can get involved:

There are slots between 9am-6pm across 3 Tesco stores: Tesco Penistone, Tesco Hoyland and Tesco Stairfoot. Volunteers stand at the front of store, hand out leaflets, encourage donations and represent Barnsley Foodbank Partnership. Individuals often choose a 2-3 hour slot, but you can stay as long as you’d like! Hi-vis jackets and lanyards are provided, but comfortable footwear is recommended.

All stores will have donation points at the front of store. There may also be a list of most needed items at that time, as well as a list on the leaflets of what can be donated. They will also have ‘money buckets’ for those who wish to donate cash.

If you can’t come to the store, you can be a Virtual Volunteer. Virtual Volunteers can get involved with the collection at home, at work, or even in the middle of a countryside! There are many ways to help Barnsley Foodbank Partnership including: donating via Amazon Wish List, sharing social media posts, donating an online shop, giving via bank transfer, or even doing a fundraising challenge.
