The Goodgym Dream Team were called in this week to blitz the back garden of Turning Point - a innovative, dynamic Drug and Alcohol Wellbeing Service. They wanted to be able to use the garden going forward as an gardening activity in their recovery groups.

We had a couple of GG tourists along again today. Thanks David, David & Claudia - hopefully we'll see you again next week.

After a lovely 2k run up to Uxbridge Road via the tree lined backstreets we met Michael again from Turning Point, who told us in a nutshell about the many facets of TP's service.

A bit like a carpet

We quickly got started weeding the AstroTurf and hoovering up the general debris that had collected on the top of it. Then group cleared and weeded a raised flower bed that had once been a herb garden. Lastly, after moving all the rubbish together and preparing it for collection Jason and George took on the task of sweeping and washing down the concrete alleyway.

Bish Bash Wash

In 25 minutes the garden was completely sorted and looked completely rejuvenated.

Just before we left one of the ladies who had been through Turning Point as a service user and now was a peer mentor came to tell us about her experience and what she does in this role.

Party invitation

We all been invited along to a Recovery Celebration party being held Wednesday 12.30pm at 61 Munster Road, SW6 5RE. There will be music performances, food and celebration. Turning Point wanted to invite Goodgymers along as a thank you for all they’ve done to help the charity.

Drive backwards

On the run back to base we dipped into Ravenscourt Park to learn some running best practice. This week it was all about arms.

We practiced driving our arms backwards, keeping them at a right angle and not crossing the body.

Something to think about on a run this week perhaps?!

PSB,
OUT.
