What a lovely day to be helping out the Wirral 10k and Half Marathon on the New Brighton promenade. These events cannot run (no pun intended) unless they have a healthy supply of volunteers. This is something like the fourth run event Good Gym have helped at this year and each one has been different but enjoyable in their own way.

Effie lead the team of Tim, Pauline and Matthew. Our task on this occasion was to hand out various items, mainly food at the end of the run. First though we had to take items like protein bars and healthy digestion lozenges out of their mounds of packaging, so that when the rush came we would be able to hand them out at speed. There was almost no time for a coffee and bacon and egg sandwich but we bravely managed to squeeze these in before the race was off.

It was amazing to see all these wonderful runners come across the line from the first to the last and it became a bit of a conveyor belt in order to keep up with demand but we did it and everyone was really grateful that we were able to help out. The sun did dip in for a snooze for quite a while but by the time the runners started to finish it was out again and it was nice and warm for all.

A supreme effort in getting out of bed on a Sunday morning but well worth it. Well done all!
