Tonight we were meant to be litter picking along the canal for the Canal & River Trust, however due to unforeseen wet weather, it was not safe enough to run along the canal tow paths.

So tonight we set off for a run around the town centre stopping off at the well lit cycle path in Tudor Grange park to do a fitness session.

Our session consisted of two types of Hill running. First off a four minute effort of Kenyan Hills, this involves continues running up and down a hill at a solid steady pace. This form of hill workout is continuous as it involves an 'active' recovery, with the aim being to keep blood lactate levels and heart rate elevated throughout the workout.

After a 90 second rest, we hit the hills once again for another four minutes but this time for a Hill Spring. This exercises involves a hard sprint up and a slower recovery run back down ready to go again. Hill sprints are great for strengthening your glutes, hamstrings, quads, and calves. Whilst distance running builds endurance, it’s always good to pair this with hill sprints as they are what builds strength.

After this it was time to run back to base but a slightly longer route through Brueton park to help up the kilometres.

Hope to see you all next week for more running and good deeds!
