Bank holiday running was an all day event for some GG runners this Monday. Where some had started their day with the Vitality 10k and concluded by joining in on a Goodgym group 10k! What a team, you can always bank on us to do good.

Tonight’s task was to assist at the awesome Landmarks Art Centre, which is a fantastic historic venue and home to so many great community groups in our borough. The task was to move and spread wood chips to add the finishing touches to some great landscaping that volunteers had been contributing to at the centre and it was wonderful that we could be part of the story.

Our warm up was brief but explosive (check out the pictures), as the run tonight meant that we needed a prompt start to maximise time at the task. For a bank holiday we were definitely counting our blessings with the beautiful weather and a lovely scenic route along the river. Blessings come in many forms and so tonight we also had the pleasure of welcoming new runners, Leo, Hannah from GG Bromley and Jon’s cousin Trevor (all the way from Canada). Whilst Trevor swears he came for the Vitality run, secretly one feels he wanted a slice of the Goodgym action – whilst Jon and Holly are still running with us!

Our task owner, the lovely Sian was no where to be seen when we arrived but we “wooden” believe she had forgotten us and sure enough she was there in no time with great instructions on how to get the chips down. So, with 17 of us we made short work of it, so we took the opportunity to get a couple of pictures outside this great building where we cheered Holly and Jon for all their efforts and great company on so many Richmond runs. With our task done and a few beers with them to be had (a few more for some than others) to wish them well in Greenwich we worked up a good thirst on the return run.

One couldn’t help feeling very privileged to be running in such a great group and in such a picturesque setting that is Richmond Borough. A good stretch was had, and some puns shared as we reflected on a great job done. Big shout out to Katie who ran her first 5km tonight and once again to all those in the Vitality 10k whether you were with us tonight or not. All the best to Holly and Jon.

Look forward to seeing you next week
