Let's train together to climb Everest!

If you can't get outside why not take part in our Stairs Challenge wherever you are! Read about the health benefits of stair climbing here.

When is it? - Every weekend, I like to do mine on a Saturday!

How does it work? Find a stairwell or steps in your house or housing block that is safe to use at a social distance! Climb your stairs/steps from the bottom to the top, 'Recover' as you descend back to the bottom. Repeat as many times in one activity as you can...!

SET YOURSELF 1 OF THESE CHALLENGES! FAST - How many Stairs/Floors can you climb in 20 or 30 minutes? HIGH - Can you reach a total number? 1000 or 2000 Stairs? LONG - How long can you keep going 45 minutes? or 1 hour?

The options are endless! No matter how big or small, try and increase your exercise safely each week if you wish - just remember to keep count!

  • Once you completed your challenge, post a message in the comments below to share your achievements with us!

FUN FACTS - 1 flight of stairs is approximately 10 feet elevation - Climbing a flight of 10 steps or stair is equivalent to taking 38 steps on level ground - With around 2,000 steps to a mile, you’d need to climb around 50 flights to equal a single mile walked.

The World Record for the Greatest Vertical Height Stair Climbing in 24 hours is 18,585 m set by Kurt Hess who climbed the 45 m Esterli Tower in Lenzburg, Switzerland, 413 up and down!
