Post run Tuesday
Those who have tested COVID-19 positive and their contacts will receive necessary information and guidance
Location
Date and time
12:30 - 13:30Please note that this community mission has been cancelled.
The City of York Council have had a chance to test the approach and are asking us to help with delivery of letters to people who have tested COVID-19 positive and those who they have been in contact with. Each letter will contain a personal message from local NHS doctors, an explanation of when self-isolation needs to start, and when it can end, and information about the support available incl. the helpline number.
We are looking for 4 runners to collect one batch of letters each at 12:30pm from the West Offices Print Unit (Station Rise, YO1 6GA side of the building, by the War Memorial) and deliver it to one of the below community hubs. The letters will be in an A4 envelope. You may want to have a rucksack, or panniers if you are on a bike, as the number of letters in the envelope will vary depending on the day and could be between 2 and 20+.
OPTIONAL – after handing the A4 envelope containing letters to the community hub coordinator you could wait for them to open it and perhaps take few of those letter and deliver to households i.e. if it’s on your way home. This is optional and do not feel obliged to do that, as each community hub has got local volunteers linked with it and who will be delivering to particular households. However your help with this step will be much appreciated and time saving for the community hub coordinators.
When you sign up please comment which of the following community hubs you are delivering to:
Foxwood Community Centre, Cranfield Place, YO24 3HY
Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Road, YO23 1BW
Tang Hall Community Centre, Fifth Avenue, YO31 0UG
Haxby Memorial Hall, 16 The Village, Haxby, YO32 3HT
How are you getting there?

I’m happy to do the Haxby one
I'm actually going Haxby Tuesday afternoon (or Earswick, I need to double check!) so I can do Haxby if easier for you. If you prefer Haxby I'll do Nunthorpe Road or Tang Hall :)
I can do Tang Hall
I can do Foxwood.
It turns out that the letters will be ready for collection at different times of day and the Council decided to undertake the first week involving its own volunteers linked with Community Hubs. GoodGym may well be asked again to help with this in the future, once the process is established.
