A little (socially distanced) help for the lovely Mr S

As a wise philosopher once said, you Kant beat doing a little good on a Tuesday. But let's not get into that, it'll just make us Rousseau for wear and we've got far too much on our Plato already.

Such as today's mission. For today I was tasked to get a little shopping for the wonderful Mr S of SE13, who is currently shielding. Having had a a quick natter with Mr S to confirm his shopping list, I set off to traverse the void between SE10 and SE13. Through lions and tigers and bears I would likely not need to pass, although on Blackheath Common you can never be too careful. As someone wise once said, you Kant risk nuttin'. 

Before leaving, I knew my brother was worried. So very worried, he even seemed to have lost some hair. I remember what he said, he was shouting, deafening it was, 'Alex, Alexxx, ALEXXXXX, WHY AREN'T YOU LISTENING TO ME!!!' Not that I could hear much with my headphones in. But worried he was, I'm certain of it. I spared his vexations (and his hair) by ignoring him and walking straight out into the void. 

Now, dear reader, I'm not sure how much you know about long-distance survival missions and so please forgive me if this all a bit a la bruschetta. But it really all boils down to the 4 p's. I read that once. Prepare prepare prepare prepare. That's all you really need to know. And so that, as I traversed the 3 borough divide, is what I did. Over and over and over again, I kept saying prepare. But ONLY in groups of 4, NEVER in groups of 3. It just doesn't work otherwise. 

On I went. Past trees and cars and bikes and plenty more. Even past a small pointing child who, although I didn't catch it exactly, asked their Mother something about why I was so prepared. If I hadn't been so 'in the zone' I'd have stopped and let them have a photo with me.

By the time I got to SE13, I'd nearly finished my podcast. And I got straight to the shopping. Whilst on the phone with Mr S that morning, I'd said that our £20 limit may mean that I wouldn't be able to get everything on his list - it was a good ol' list - but my calculating abilities are clearly not as good as Mr S's. With nearly £1.50 to spare (!), I popped on over to Mr S's with his goods and his receipt. 

Today was sunny and warm, and it was a joy to be out and enjoying it. This task was a tiny effort in comparison to Mr S's monumental efforts to continue shielding. Here's to Mr S and the many other superheroes doing as he is at the moment.
