We found our ‘thrill on Primrose Hill’ alright even if we didn’t have the faintest idea what Mark was trying to sing to us….and we found some great puns too – Thank you Anita, Andy and Richard!

Super running to get the week off to a beautiful start for us tonight. Getting dark happened just as we were stretching at the end of the session that saw us warming up on Richmond green working reflex and agility in a circular running drill (Mark was pretending to be yawning but I think secretly impressed at our reaction times). Our run had us heading up Richmond Hill where a few at the front managed to sneak in some faster paced hill climbing as well – Well played guys.

On arrival at the task we were met by the delightful Jean Loveland (councillor for Ham, Petersham and Richmond Riverside) who briskly trotted us off to where the action was to be had. We had 100 (I think) tiny Primrose flowers to plant and some miniature (very thorny) rose bushes. Primroses to brighten up the Petersham Meadows and the roses to grow high enough to bind together in an arch to create a sound barrier against the traffic further up the hill.

We worked diligently and focussed, managing to get all that was there planted. Each week now we are getting to know more, like the difference between a Spanish and English Bluebell and what is a spade and what is a shovel (well some of us are eh Mark?)

Although the task was done we were absolutely punless, so in order to assist, Mark created ‘hide and seek’ from a seed tray (aka - grill in his eyes) which was hidden for us to find in the hopes that our group would also find his pun suggestion …..Epic Fail! Even when he sung it to us we were lost - I found my what …on which Hill?? What it did do though was get our creative muse on and as prickly as the business was of getting the woods looking prim(rose) and proper (nice one Andy!) We were now in full bloom … Some would say “We came up smelling of Roses on Primrose Hill” right Richard!

Our run back was beautiful scenery all the way through the winding alleys to the meadows along lower Petersham and then a run along the riverside taking us back for some Yoga-esque stretching.

A perfect Monday evening with awesome GG runners was had and we mused over a great way to spend St. Georges day at night with Anita’s super pun.

A big shout out for Becky seeing her return for her second GG outing and Samia – Lovely to have you on the circuit with us again. Final huge KUDOS to our Jenny who completed the Marathon yesterday – Hero Status!!!

“God and Saint George! Richmond and victory!”

Looking forward to next week already, but before I sign off, Mark insists you click on this link and sing along!
