Who this task will support
Home4U
We are a registered charity and work extensively with refugees and asylum seekers in Cardiff. We run two projects Space4U which runs a day centre teice a week and Home4U which seeks accommodation for destitute asylum seekers. We welcome over 150 refugees each week and offer advice, a safe place, English lessons, clothes store, a hot meal cooked by refugees, refreshments and general support.

Space4U provides a welcoming place for refugees and people who are seeking asylum. They offer friendship and support, English classes, recreational activities, a simple hot meal and practical help and information.

Their clients are deeply traumatised having fled their countries and families. The current hostile environment of the HomeOffice means they wait long periods for decisions. Without accommodation some are homeless. A warm, clean place to stay is essential and painting these flats will make it a home.

Wales and West Housing Association are providing them with two flats but they need painting throughout. Where appropriate they would want to encourage refugee volunteers to help as well.
