4 intrepid GoodGymers made their way to Aldate Square on a less than balmy Friday afternoon to help out with stewarding at the Aldgate in Winter Lantern Festive Parade, the centrepiece of their wonderful Winter Fair.

We were met by the delightful Laura, and aided joyfully by Kathryn to understand what exactly what was planned and how we could be most helpful. It transpires that there were an abundance of stewards already, so in the usual adaptable GoodGym manner we were very happily commandeered to help out in the parade itself by carrying around some of the larger and most spectacular lanterns.

Rosie in particular was delighted to be able to take the front end of a resplendent tree lantern, which accordingly got a lot of attention in the parade. An eager Jo took charge of the magnificent Golden Lane lantern. Sam and I aided them with a collection of sea themed lanterns i.e. lots of fish!

We threaded our way through the streets of Aldgate, on a windy path that took in a lot of the local highlights and pleasingly the streets were lined with many locals admiring all the hard work that had gone into making the lanterns. The parade concluded with us returning to the square and displaying the lanterns on the lawn for all to enjoy.

We wrapped up just in time for Rosie to hightail it up to Barnet for the GoodGym Christmas party!

Edit: I had to change the punny title because the brilliant Becky used it for the same event last year. They do say that great minds think alike...
