🦁 18 brilliant GoodGymmers met for our group run to help St. Nick's this evening. We named and numbered whilst saying our favourite party games, which included some old classics (sleeping lions and Twister, to name a few) and some interesting additions (anyone heard of the Banana Game?!) 🍌

πŸ‘‹ We were thrilled to welcome Anna for her first session with us πŸŽ‰

🚲 We were also pleased to have a cycling contingent tonight, alongside our running and run-walk groups. So on various modes of transport, we headed to Fulford Ings (including a slight detour, which was my fault, sorry everyone) to meet Nicola from St. Nick's πŸ™Œ

πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎπŸ‘¨β€πŸŒΎ We were greeted with scythes, forks and rakes and a bit of a wilderness to clear a path through (whilst avoiding the tansy plants in order to protect our tansy beetle friends) 🐞

πŸ’ͺ Everyone got stuck in and had an impressive upper body workout, scything away, clearing the cuttings onto tarps and dragging said tarps to the pile under the tree (all the while, attempting to avoid the nettle/thistle/insect bite hazards) πŸ€•

😳 Some of the plants were pretty floppy, which made for extra challenging scything conditions. Nicola was on hand with the benefit of experience, advising us to "get behind the flop", which obviously led to much hilarity and innunendos, because we're all very mature like that 🀭

😁 It was brilliant to see the progress made in a fairly short amount of time so we were soon packing up and posing for a group photo (still attempting to avoid the bitey insects, sorry Ed) πŸ“Έ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸš΄ It was time to head back to base, with a stop en route for a relay-based fitness session near Millennium Bridge. Splitting into teams of 3, we each ran, skipped and goose-flapped our way down the course and back, to the hilarity of ourselves, our cycling buddies and (probably) passers by πŸ¦…

πŸ₯Ί Having jogged the rest of the way back to base, it was time to stretch and then head to the pub to say goodbye to the lovely Louise who's moving to pastures new this week. We wish you all the very best and hope we'll see you back in York sometime soon πŸ₯³
