Not needles and pins, but Aoife, Katie and Mel were also banging in poles and putting up fencing for the main arena and the smaller dog shows for children. For everyone's entertainment, there is a Teacup ride, bouncy castle plus a large Marquee where a 90 person Afternoon Tea will be hosted and a tiny tots area to keep the little ones happy and dry, plus lots of smaller stalls. Aoife helped with a temporary 'mend' of the jam and chutney gazebo with help from Malcom's toolbox and the man in the tent next door. Steve (BPA) was directing cars for the smaller stalls and the car boot. Hilary (BPA) who was the main organiser was everywhere at once with a detailed layout of where everything should be - I really hope she gets time to sit down with a cuppa once it starts at 12 noon. The Mayor was due to open the event and the Pompey Pluckers were expected to perform with their banjo's in the main Arena (but only if it stopped raining)! The icecream van will no doubt still get plenty of orders, although unfortunately the rain looked set to stay. A glitch with the electric connection which wasn't working, but in true British fashion it was a case of just get on with it. With a full afternoon planned, I'm sure plenty of people will be coming along to support the event, and besides, there is always the chance of a bit of blue sky and some sunshine - it is August after all!
