Slip, Slide and Fly(er) !!

Refreshing the Group run page on the GG website during Tuesday afternoon and evening felt like watching the stock market in 2008 - the numbers kept going down!!

The truly bizarre weather probably didn't help as we had thunder and lightning and storm rain followed by cloud and sunshine on a repeat cycle that weather apps couldn't keep up with and so by the time of the run we had 3 of 4 people and then like a hero coming through the mist Charlotte came jogging up - she wasn't on the list but we were definitely happy to let her in! ☔⚡🏊

The challenge facing us was that we had a box of 1000 flyers for the Camberwell Arts Festival which starts this weekend and we were helping out our friends in Southwark to spread the word on the Lambeth side of the borough line, what's 1000 divided by 4........? Unrealistic I'd say.

No matter, with such a small group we dispensed with usual format of categories and had a nice warm up before setting off on a 1.6km run over to the county line! 🏃

If you know the area of SE5 you will know there are big houses (and lots of steps!) and many apartment blocks so we focussed on the houses to save time. We headed to the edge of Myatt's Fields Park and with slick pavements underfoot got cracking.

The leaflet drop was going swimmingly with Claire and Shauna burning down garden paths, up stairs, dodging bins and baby bikes until Charlotte took a corner almost horizontally in between two parked cars (think parkour over a car bonnet) and couldn't retrieve it so took a tumble. 🚗🤸 Thankfully no harm done and she took it in her stride (ahem) the only casualty being the new Saucony GG t-shirt which got a bit of splatter - should come out in the wash though.

35 minutes later we had exhausted a full pack and delivered 250 leaflets which was an excellent effort and it was time to head back. 🌈 ⛅

All in all a fun and more intimate task with only a few of us and I can only thank the three superstars who came to help out - you guys were brilliant! Oh and we ran over 6km by the end, not bad and didn't feel like we had covered so much distance at all.
