I plant help falling in glove with yew

Sunday was the second rendition of the Chiswick Flower Market, and helping hands were needed to help with the clear up operation. After five and a half hours of succulent sales, purchasing plants and buying bunches, GoodGym man (and woman) flower power was needed.

As the stalls started to pack away, and we tried to fight the November rain off, Amanda and the Team set us off on various tidy up tasks. The jobs including:

• Taking down posters and signs and cutting down cable ties
• Moving traffic barriers and cones back to the police station
• Litter picking
• Packing up the bunting.

We plant pot to work, with Chris showing off his secateur skills taking signs down and Bethan, Lucy and Michelle rose to the challenge of filling up green bags with bits of leaf, stem, papers and plastics. We danced around the stall holders loading their lilies and packing their pansies back into vans, pickers ready for all the scraps left behind, and got the rubbish dropped by revellers.

There was also the big job of moving all the barriers and cones, and lining them up outside the police station. Different techniques were tested out to move the big orange barriers - the shove, the lug, the two person jobby, the backwards pull, the push. Alanna, Alex, Chris and Jen did a fern job of getting all the barriers moved and in an orderly fashion. Alanna even made a new friend, a teddy bear, who seemed to help her on her barrier bashing duties.

The stands were emptying, and we watched the Flower Market crew climb up a questionable looking ladder and helped to fold away the bunting that was lining the now-darkening Chiswick sky. This palm-y of GoodGymmers managed to get the clear up moss-ion completed in no time. Another blooming good deed completed.
