It was a lovely, hot Sunday evening when we arrived at St John's community garden. Sally, Paul and our hosts were already there. We were welcomed by Alex, who was really grateful to see us. She shared that they started the community gardens in March and, if people are interested, they can always join them at 5pm - 8pm whenever it is sunny. I was impressed with how much they have accomplished for the past 4 months - the gardens looked beautiful!

Alex gave us a choice of several tasks - watering and pickaxing future flower beds, weeding, as well as litter picking. Abi joined Paul and Sally with the more labour-intensive task - they did a great job! It will be nice to visit soon and see newly planted flower beds. :)

Danny and I weeded two big areas around the paths. Initially, it looked like there would not be that much work for us, but we managed to get a whole green waste bin full of weeds.

After loads of hard work, we said 'goodbye' to our hosts, who invited us to come back soon.

P.S. Sally mentioned it was 'Flying Ant' day and, surely enough, on my way home, it became apparent why it's called that. :D
