The Friends of Windmill Gardens (FoWG) were formed in 2003 with three aims: * to get the Grade II listed Brixton Windmill restored and opened for public visits – in 2002 it had been put on English Heritage's buildings at risk register; * to make Windmill Gardens park a more welcoming space for local people; * to have a new education centre at the windmill. Windmill Gardens gained a Green Flag Community Award in 2015 and we have just been judged again so our fingers are crossed that we will retain the award for the next two years.

This popular summer event at Brixton Windmill returns after the two-year pandemic period to provide free creative activities for children and adults .

Our annual August event helps develop community cohesion in our very diverse neighbourhood. This event offers a variety of free drawing, painting and craft workshops as well as guided tours of the historic windmill.

The tasks will include setting up and breaking down the site of our annual Art in the Park event in Windmill Gardens.

Main task is to erect gazebos, set out tables and chairs and install signage for art workshops taking place in the park. After the event we need help in dismantling the site and packing away tables, chairs and gazebos and leaving the park in good order.

We need your help folks so get signed up and do some good!
