After a very busy long weekend of Jubilee overload, thunderstorms and tube strikes, a relaxed evening of watering and gardening tasks at the Tufnell Park Plant Nursery was exactly what we needed!

Adam, Katie, Benedict and Area Activator Simon caught up outside the Elizabeth House Food Hub, discussing stag do organising duties, jubilee parties and weekend races before setting off towards Tufnell Park. We crossed The Emirates Stadium on route and passed local legend Seyfu Jamaal on route (captain of London Heathside Running Club and mentor for The Running Charity).

We passed the Odeon on Holloway Road, and found the rest of our crew outside the Plant Nursery. Frannie from Octopus Community Network was communicating with AA Simon remotely tonight, and had a series of tasks available for us. First things first, we gathered up a collection of water cans and filled them from the rain water butts in the centre of the nursery. Objective 1 was to hydrate all the plants in the polytunnel green house (lots of saplings and bulbs needed regular watering), and then we moved on to the rest of the garden. Anne and Annikki also helped with digging out a large planter full of overgrown spinach (which was not picked up during the Jubilee plant sale over the weekend), ready for new plants to be propagated.

Adam and Caitlin assisted AA Simon with linking up a hose pipe to a local water source on the housing estate to we could super-charge our watering abilities! After about 40 minutes of efficient watering and weeding, we closed up the garden gates, and set off on our own journeys home (with an additional run back to Elizabeth House on route).
