Five very chilly Goodgymmers ice skated their way to the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve for a (bio)degrading task (this pun was brazenly stolen from Charlie's Strava #SorryNotSorry #LoveYouCharlie)

Are You A Puller Or A Shover?

With this rather cryptic question, Louise raised the temperature and set the tone on what was an otherwise very chilly night at the Nature Reserve. Oh, it was chilly. It seems that we cannot go to the Reserve at the moment without the weather deciding to just go on one and be extra. I mean, last time we attempted this task, there was so much rain on the night that the steps down into the Reserve resembled a waterfall and the floor was so slippery we just had to cancel five minutes after arrival.

Tonight, a very clear sky, very full moon, and a very arctic blast joined forces to turn Wednesday night icy cold. In Nurjehan's absence, Gramps was even wearing the GGHaringey running jacket! Thankfully for us, at the Reserve awaited us a very physical task. The Friends group are currently preparing the site for the installation of a brand new education centre. Very exciting times for the Reserve. Before they can get there though, a few years worth of green refuse needs to be cleared away from the former compost area. It's a big job but one that our Goodgymmers didn't shy away from. Proving that they're in fact both capable pullers and shovers in equal measure, our 5 Goodgymmers filled builder bag after builder bag with refuse and then with Herculean effort pulled them to the top of the Reserve for collection at a future date.

It was tough, honest work and our Goodgymmers were fantastic. With BadGym extraordinaire Julie at hand, they even found time to put Gramps in a bag too.

Just before 8pm, our Goodgymmers had run out of builder bags to fill so they headed out into the night in search of something nice to warm their cockles and their toes.

Join us next week for our last group task of the year! And our social afterwards.
