Our First Training Session

It was typical GoodGym running conditions this morning as we met at Crewe Park for our first ever GG Crewe Training session - dry! (I've totally cursed that now haven't I?!!). It was great to see Pam, Barry, Alison & Karen as they arrived and were as happy and as enthusiastic as ever.

We had a quick chat in the cafe about our running goals and what we each hoped to achieve. It was lovely to learn a bit more about each of you and some of the running/fitness journeys that you've already been on. After we'd chatted and had an idea of each other's goals, we set ourselves some mini goals for today - and you all smashed them!!

After our warm up, we headed out to the Parkrun starting line and got on our way. We were just going with the flow and seeing how we each felt. You were all awesome......

Pam, it was great to see you back running (and with lots of effort too) and encouraging and supporting Alison as she embarked on her longest distance to date! You are definitely one of the fittest people I know (not forgetting Barry of course!) Alison, you totally smashed that today. Parkrun next stop!! Considering you're relatively new to running and have never run that far before, you were A-MAZE-ING. I know you enjoyed the company of Pam too. What a team!!! Barry, you were like Usain Bolt up those hills today!! No stopping for you - in fact, you went back for seconds AND then did it again on the next lap!!! There really was no holding you back today. Well done!! Karen, you too did brilliantly on those hills!! And, like Barry, not only did you do the hill once on the first lap, but you went back for another go too!! You've nailed those now and will be smashing those next Parkrun!!! And your pace is amazing!! You definitely don't give yourself enough credit, especially after your incredible personal journey.

I enjoyed the cool-down today - it was great to have the bridge railings to hold on to for some slightly different stretches than normal. And not forgetting the drink in the cafe afterwards. A perfect end to a lovely morning.

Really proud of you all today and really enjoyed all your company.

Here's to the next one (although Pam and Barry will probably miss it as they'll be in Spain!!) :-)))

Keep up the great work and see you all soon.

Lots of love Nicola xxx
